Many lash artists reach a point where they want their own name on the trays they use and sell: for their studio, their students or their own online shop. Starting a lash brand does not have to begin with a huge order or a full product range. It starts with a clear first product, the right specifications and a manufacturer who can turn your logo into finished packaging. This guide walks through each step, from choosing your first tray to placing your first order.

The Short Answer
To start your own lash brand, decide who you are selling to, choose one or two trays to launch with, prepare your logo, test samples, then confirm the quote and place your first order with a private label lash manufacturer. At COMELYLASH, private label and wholesale orders start from an MOQ of 5 pcs, and samples are free; you pay shipping only.
- Who: Your own clients, students, other artists or online shoppers.
- What: A focused first product, with exact finish, curl, diameter and lengths.
- Brand: Logo file, colors and insert design.
- Proof: Samples and a preview image you approve before production.
1. Decide Who You Are Selling To
Your customer decides almost everything that follows: which trays you stock, how many you order and how your packaging should look.
- Your own studio: You know exactly which curls and lengths you use every week. Start with those.
- Students: Trainers often launch a branded tray that matches what they teach, so students can reorder the same product after class.
- Other lash artists: You will need a wider choice of curls, diameters and lengths over time, but you can still launch with your best sellers.
- Online shoppers: Think about product photos, product descriptions and how the tray looks in a photo as well as in the hand.
Write one sentence that describes your customer, for example "lash artists in my city who do classic and hybrid sets." Use it to check every decision in the steps below.
2. Choose Your First Product
A focused launch is easier to sample, quote and sell than a request for "every curl and every diameter." Define the product in detail:
- Finish: Matte Black for a soft, low-shine finish, or Ultra Black for deeper color and stronger definition. See Matte Black vs Ultra Black.
- Style and diameter: Volume trays in 0.03, 0.05 or 0.07 mm, or classic trays in 0.10, 0.15 or 0.20 mm. Our classic vs volume guide and diameter guide can help.
- Curl: List the exact curls, for example C and D, or the special curls L, M and LC. See the Lash Curl Guide.
- Lengths: Single lengths, a mixed-length tray, or both.
- Tray format: The number of rows per tray.
Before you design anything, try the stock version of the tray you have in mind. Our retail lash trays have no minimum order, so you can work with the product on real clients before you put your name on it.
3. Logo and Packaging
Your packaging is what clients and buyers see first. Prepare these before you contact a manufacturer:
- Your cleanest logo file.
- Brand colors, or a reference image of the look you want.
- The information you want printed on the tray insert, such as curl, diameter and lengths.
- Any information required for the market where you will sell.
At COMELYLASH, you send your specifications and logo, and we prepare a free preview image of your design. Production starts only after you confirm it.
Branded tools help a new brand look complete. You can add your logo to our tweezers with the Custom Logo service: each $10 fee covers up to 10 tweezers.
4. Test Samples
A sample shows you what your customers will actually receive. COMELYLASH samples are free; you pay shipping only. Decide what you are checking before the sample arrives:
- Fiber finish and color under your studio lighting.
- Curl, diameter and length compared with your specification.
- How the lashes pick up and fan with your usual technique.
- How the lash rows peel from the tray.
- How your logo and insert design look at real size.
- The condition of the packaging after shipping.
Write down what passes and what needs to change. A specific note, such as "make the length labels larger," is easier to act on than "make it look more premium."
5. MOQ, Quote and First Order
Once the sample and design are approved, confirm the full quote before you pay.
- MOQ: COMELYLASH private label and wholesale orders start from 5 pcs, so a small first order is possible.
- Printed inserts: Custom printed inserts are a separate item with their own minimum and setup cost. Our private label checklist lists the current insert options.
- Confirm in writing: Product specification, quantities, unit price, insert costs, lead time, payment terms and shipping method.
- Quality: Every batch of lash trays is inspected before it ships.
Start with the quantity you can realistically sell or use, then reorder. A second order based on real sales is easier to plan than a large first order based on guesses.
6. Choose a Lash Manufacturer
Your manufacturer affects product quality, how fast you can reorder and how much you can customize. Questions to ask any supplier:
- Do they make the lashes in their own factory, or resell from another factory?
- Have they produced private label or OEM products for other lash brands?
- Can they show independent checks, such as a factory audit or a verified supplier profile?
- Will they send samples and a preview of your design before production?
- What is the MOQ, and is it the same for reorders?
COMELYLASH is a lash extension manufacturer with its own factory. We produce OEM products for established lash brands and are an Alibaba Verified Custom Manufacturer. Read more about us.
